SOLD – An Exceptional Early 19th cent. Mahogany Partners Desk (1366)

ITEM RESERVED  –  A very good early Victorian ( circa 1830s/50s)  dark  figured mahogany double sided Partners Desk with an unusual & interesting  Irish  provenance

Size:  60ins wide   x  39ins deep x 31ins high.     Knee-hole size:28ins wide  x  24.5ins high.

Nine large oak lined drawers to the front .   The opposite side with three large oak lined drawers and twin file cupboards below with removable shelves.      The top  fitted with a new gilt tooled  leather surface replacing the worn original. Constructed in three sections with hidden castors for ease of moving and  offered in very good part restored original condition retaining the nicely worn & used patination expected of a working desk of this age.

Provenance :   (Sir) Charles Justine McCarthy  1811 – 1864. Govenor of Ceylon 1860 – 1863.
