A very impressive. Six feet 2ins wide. English, early Victorian period , double sided, figured mahogany true partners desk, circa 1840. Each side with a central locking drawer (with Keys) and twin pedestal cupboards (fully locking with keys). The right pedestal interior with four very large, deep drawers. The left pedestal with 24 pigeon holes. Both sides being identical. The top with a full hide leather writing surface in burgundy red with gilding. The whole desk breaking down into four sections for easy moving. Knee-hole size 24ins high x 24ins wide. This is a rare & most impressive desk, originally made for the legal profession. Photographs do not give it full justice and it really needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. Recently restored and offered in very good condition.
